江苏省张家港高级中学是在原张家港市一中高中部办学基础上易地新建的一所全寄宿制现代化普通高级中学，于2000年9月落成开学。它拥有先进的办学理念，一流的现代装备，强大的师资阵容，严格的科学管理和理想的教育质量。
江苏省张家港高级中学占地150亩，建筑面积45000平方米，总投资一亿多元。
学校布局设计富有新意，建筑结构雄伟振奋，有着花园式的工作、学习与生活环境和一流的现代教育设备。五大系统（计算机网络系统、闭路电视系统、电话通讯系统、广播音响系统、观摩安保系统）居全国领先水平，体育艺术馆、多功能报告厅、400米塑胶跑道田径场、高标准理化生实验室等场馆设施一应俱全。每个普通教室都配有辅助教室并配备全套多媒体教学装备，学生公寓设有卫生间和淋浴装置，并设电话电脑终端。
