Download the mrfix.zip file to a temporary folder.Extract the mrfix.reg file using WinZip.Double-click the mrfix.reg file.If after performing this procedure, the installer fails with the same Error 1920 message, contact Autodesk 3ds Max Customer Support or your IT Department for further assistance.For Advanced users only:If you prefer, you can manually edit the Windows registry key instead of using themrfix.reg file. Follow these steps: Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.In the Run dialog box, enter regedit In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters Modify the DataBasePath registry key, setting it to the following value: %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc Verify that the Type of the DataBasePath registry key is REG_EXPAND_SZ. This is necessary in order for %SystemRoot% to be expanded to the correct Windows installation folder (for example, C:\Windows).
