　　《天方夜谭》汇集了中世纪阿拉伯的神话传说和寓言故事。故事的开始讲述的是，一位暴君因为王后与别人私通，他非常气愤，于是每天夜晚娶一位女子，翌日早晨再将她杀死。宰相女儿为拯救无辜姐妹，毅然前往王宫，每夜讲故事吸引国王，共讲了一千零一夜，终于使国王感悟。因此，全书的故事种类繁多，可以窥见古代阿拉伯社会生活的种种场景，特别是广大人民群众在其中寄托的美好思想感情、愿望和追求。

I wanted to sail to Baghdad,but we were a long way from home.No one knew of such a place.I found captains for my ship and filled them with treasure.I sent them to all the four corners of the world to look gor Baghdad.I was sure that,one day,they must hear news of my home.I myself got into the biggest treasure ship of all.We sailed withthe wind.'God makes the wind blow,'I said,'I hope He willsend me home.'
