Dear Allen,
I’m very happy to know that you are going to take part in the American High School Students Chinese Speech Contest. And it’s my honor to give you some advice on how to write a good speech in Chinese.
First, a good beginning is quite necessary. Because you can catch the audience’s attention and interest if you begin your speech in a lovely and interesting way. For example, you can begin your speech with a Chinese proverb or a famous quotation. That way, the audience will think you have a good knowledge of the Chinese culture.
Second, make your speech as convincing as possible. To do this, you had better give some vivid examples or your personal experiences, which can say much more than comments.
Last, do some proofreading after you finish your text to avoid as many mistakes as you can.
Good luck to you!
Yours,
Li Hua
