As I see it, Chaozhou is an ancient city with a long history and there are a lot of historical sites.Take for example, Xiangzi Bridge, also called Guangji Bridge, is one of the four Chinese ancient bridges and it has a history of 837 years.
Similarly, Kaiyuan Temple, with a 1270-year history, is another architecture of historical significance.
When today, we, in the 21st century, are used to getting along with skycrapers, cars and airoplanes, we find it more and more difficult to see cities like Chaozhou that still maintain their ancient flavor. I think that is one of the important reasons for Chaozhou's appeal.
