Language is consistent with thoughts. Thoughts is performing as the internal support while language as the external manifestation. Different ways of language expression may show different affection on thoughts.As a Hadith -style Sutra, 《Platform Sutra》 is quite different from the other spreading sutra texts, it shows different ways of language expression. The artical analyzes Wei 's " Words and Meaning and "the theory of "unsayable" of Western languages philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein while combining their comparision with the conception from 《Altar Sutra》,then arrive at the conclusion that both 《Altar Sutra》 and the two tend to be "limited in words and argumentation" judging by their way of thoughts expression. Therefore ,metaphor as well as the text form Jiwen are now been widely used in texts in 《Sutra》, which make the variety and complex relationships between self, wisdom and delusion more vivid and profound.
