Basic discussion on Ranke Historiography

Abstract:The Ranke Historiography constructed in 19th century become the mainstream of the western historiography as soon as it was publiced. Its reason is that Ranke called up and practised to 'write as it is' which make the Ranke Historiography be a symbol of 'scientific' and 'objective'. This paper demonstrates that Ranke Historiography persuits ontoly objective but the way to it is restricted to understandingly objective based on the distinguish of ontology and epistemology. From that the other historians' objectively critisize are introduced and analyzed and demonstrates that the objective of Ranke Historiography is a kind of understandingly and relatively objective.
