只要注意一下标点就可以发现:不管整个句字是否换行,大写的一般都在句号后面,而小写的是在逗号后面.因为用的是Free verse的写法所以才会出现这种事.

It is eight o'clock,
The children go to school by car
every day.
but today,
they are going to school on foot.

It is ten o'clock.

but this morning前面是逗号，But this afternoon前面是句号。这是练习用的，并不是很正式的文章，所以可以不必很讲究

but this mornin前一句是逗号，
But this afternoon前一句是句号。。。

至于什么时候用逗号和句号，只要是一个完整的英语句子都应该用句号。本文第一个but是对前半句话转折，而第二个But是对前面的那句话转折。
