except 和 except that 和except for 的区别

　　1、except 除…外 将一个或几个人或物从同一类或普通的种类中除外，如：
　　All came except Tom. (除Tom外，大家都来了)

　　2、except for 说明整个基本情况后，对细节加以纠正，如：
　　He is a good man except for hot temper.
　　(他是个好人，只是脾气暴躁。)
　　Δtemper和man，非一同范畴，temper只是man的一个侧面。
　　Your composition is good except for some mistakes.（错误和文章不是一类）

　　3、except when/ what/ that except后加的为句子，而前面except, except for后跟的为名词、代词等。
　　Most of the Chinese people usually go to work on the bike except when it rains.
　　"除了雨天,大多数中国人一般都骑自行车上班。"
　　I know nothing about it except what I have read in the papers.
　　"除了在报上读到的以外,我对这件事一无所知。"
