Nowadays, people coming to Guangzhou. Will find Guangzhou is ready for Asian Games. From TV to newspaper, from metro to shopping, wherever you go. You will see some signs about the Games around you.
I feel very happy. Not only I can see so many foreigners come to China, but also I can learn more know ledges about the Asian Games. And it is a great chance for me to communicate with foreigners, so I'm looking forward to working as a volunteer for the Asian Games, so that I can improve my English at once.
Above all, thanks to the Asian Games. Guangzhou will bring an easier an nacre comfortable life to its people.

关上海世博会的一段文字，首先是关于“盛会”的翻译，因为我们刚刚举办过奥运会和国庆60周年庆典，对“gala”这个词一定不会陌生的，世博盛会当然也可以这样描述，英文报道中不乏对这个词的使用。中间一句“八方宾朋汇聚上海，辐射神州”翻译起来颇有困难，关键是怎样理解“辐射神州”，笔者认为就是来自世界各地的宾朋会进一步到整个中国去参观、旅游以及开展商务活动。结合上下文，笔者拟翻译如下：“Participants and visitors are to pour into Shanghai and then go touring the whole China.” 接下来就是“接触，理解、沟通、欢聚、合作”这几个词，汉语在字数上的整齐要在英语找到完全对应是不可能的，但至少在词性和词长的选择上，通过仔细斟酌，是可以达到某种较好效果的。笔者拟选择五个以字母c开头的名词来翻译之，结合上下文，翻译如下：“in the hope of contact, comprehension, communication, carnival, and cooperation.”

说到广州亚运会的口号“动感亚洲，感动世界”的翻译，不能不先讨论一下上海世博会的口号，“Better city, better life”。上海世博会口号的聪明之处是先有英文，后有中文，虽然现在对于该句话的中文对应语“城市，让生活更美好”颇多争议，但其英文版的口号至少保证了其在这一国际盛会中的广泛接受性。广州亚运会这个中文口号确实很美，可是对于这样一个国际性活动，从中文出发拟定口号，然后再翻译成英文，必然会造成很多困难。中文中“动感”与“感动”的对称性，要通过翻译找到具有相同效果的对应翻译是不可能的。如果说官方的翻译是“Invigorate Asia, Spark the World”的话，那就不是从中文翻译过去的了。“Invigorate”这个词至少在我看来是不妥的，如果非让我提供一个译文的话，我宁愿说：“Dynamic Asia, spark the world.” 或者考虑到押头韵的效果，使用 “spirited”一词代替“dynamic.” 现在亚洲正是世界上最有活力的地区，这样说应该是可以的吧！
